Step right up, folks. It’s been tough times during the pandemic, but we’ve got a miracle cure for whatever ails ya. These artists are fighting back, hitting the road and launching their new releases in what promises to be one hell of a party. Why have one record launch, when you can have four?
Katie Brianna’s latest album, This Way or Some Other has been nominated for the Australian Music Prize and in a recent Sun Herald article, You Am I legend Tim Rogers called it some of the best songwriting that he’s heard in 50 years. The two-time Golden Guitar nominee is making her mark with this release. Katie will be performing in full band mode.
With U.S. and European tours cancelled, thanks to Covid, Newcastle’s Ben Leece is dipping his toe back in the water with twin EPs. The first, Skywatching, is a nod to the past and was produced by Shane Nicholson, who also produced Leece’s critically acclaimed debut album. The second EP, Marrow Gold is a nod to the future and is the sound of an artist wanting to break chains and push boundaries. Ben will be performing with his band, Left Of The Dial.
A recent live review of Dave Favours & The Roadside Ashes said they’re “unique in that they so effortlessly blend indie rock, alt country and ragged dusty pop to create their own jangly, roadside flavour. Fringe country with more than a tad of pop sensibility.” That about sums up their new album, Cheap Motels After Midnight as well.
Unbelievably, Sam Shinazzi is launching his sixth full-length release. Along the way, he’s journeyed all over Australia and made multiple tours of the U.S. He’s also played alongside many of his heroes, including Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Lou Barlow, Buffalo Tom, the Mountain Goats, Evan Dando and Richmond Fontaine. Sam Shinazzi will be performing with his band.
If that’s not enough there’s a pop-up vinyl record store from Rudderless Records at every show.
If alt-country, Americana, cowpunk or good ol’ fashioned rock’n’roll is your thing, we’ve got just the tonic you need.

Congratulations to Katie, whose latest album This Way or Some Other has been nominated for the Australian Music Prize. We’re pretty chuffed here at Stanley HQ, to say the least.
Next Friday sees the release of the latest single from the record, the appropriately titled, Home.
Keep an eye out on the same day for the stop-motion clip, which Katie shot herself, at her own home.

Wedding Ring comes from Katie’s long-awaited third LP, This Way or Some Other (Out March 26 on CD, Vinyl and Digital).
January 29, 2021
According to Katie, “Wedding Ring is an extremely personal song to me. A lot of my songs are, but this is probably one of the most intimate. I don’t really think about that when I’m writing a song, so I have to try not to think about it when recording or performing it either. Everyone can see right in to the inside of my mind. It’s also hard because my marriage is generally quite private, but these songs just spill out of me and well, I let them.”
Wedding Ring is the latest single from Katie’s long-awaited third LP, This Way or Some Other (Out March 26 on CD, Vinyl and Digital).

“It’s been a rough year, both personally and for this greater musical community. We’ve lost some friends and felt a darkness but there has also been an awareness of the folks around me – everyone is looking out for each other. We all hurt. We all deal with our own madness. Paper Thin is an affirmation to be there for the people that have been there for me.”
Paper Thin has been a popular staple and crowd favourite in the Left Of The Dial set. recorded between Newcastle and Melbourne, it’s a different sound to what we might expect from Ben, drwaing influence from Booker T & The MG’s Time Is Tight.

Stanley Records is very happy to announce the signing of 2 extraordinary artists in Katie Brianna and Peta Caswell & The Lost Cause.
Katie Brianna was first “discovered” by Paul Kelly at the age of 15 and her last album was up for a Golden Guitar Award (her second nomination) but expect the unexpected when her new album arrives in September. The album is being produced by labelmate and frequent collaborator, Adam Young (ex-Daisygrinders, Big Heavy Stuff) and her song writing has never been stronger. Her band on the album features Young, as well as members of the Cruel Sea, the Re-Mains and Spurs For Jesus.
Peta Caswell’s surname may sound familiar. She is the niece of legendary Australian singer/songwriter, Allan Caswell, and talent definitely runs in the family. Peta appeared on last year’s ground-breaking Take Me To Town compilation and when many were asked what their favourite tracks on the album were, Peta’s name was the most frequent response and she received a wealth of airplay as a result. The band’s soulful alternative country rock sound is the perfect accompaniment for Peta’s powerhouse voice. The self-titled EP from Peta Caswell & The Lost Cause drops May 3, with the debut album following early in 2020.

Expect a double dose of sweet & raggedy alt-country tunes when the award winning LACHLAN BRYAN & THE WILDES teams up with rising up and comers BEN LEECE & LEFT OF THE DIAL for their Friends & Acquaintances Tour.
With a string of awards, countless Aus/International shows and four critically acclaimed albums under their belts, including 2018’s pearler Some Girls (Quite) Like Country Music, there’s no stopping Lachlan Bryan & The Wildes. Following an East Coast tour with acclaimed American singer-songwriter Hannah Aldridge, and a USA tour through March in support of Nashville icon Amelia White, LB & The Wildes will unveil a new single Take It Out On Me to coincide with the Friends and Acquaintances Tour before heading to Europe for more shows.
Newcastle based Americana singer-songwriter Ben Leece has been making his mark since the release of his highly praised debut album, No Wonder The World is Exhausted (produced by Shane Nicholson). His rich resonant voice & emotive song-writing has seen Ben receive rave reviews & airplay around the country, as well as pick up the ‘Best Alt Country Single’ award for Trace (feat. Tori Forsyth) at the Global Independent Music Awards in 2018. Along with performances at TCMF & Dashville Skyline Festival, Ben has shared stages with Courtney Marie Andrews, Joe Pug, Tim Rogers, Tori Forsyth and more… Catch Ben in full band mode with his sidekicks Left of the Dial, and listen out for new single Nothing (Not Anymore).
